1888 Map of Idaho Territory
1888 Map of Idaho Territory
A handsome 25" x 38" map of Idaho Territory produced by the US General Land Office in 1888. The map depicts mountains and topography by hachure, with some individual mountains named. Rivers and lakes are shown, as well as towns, Indian reservations, railroads, routes and trails. Interesting historical details abound, such as a lake called Nilth-Whae-True which is probably an early name for Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park.
The map is printed on Arches BFK Rives 100% Cotton Rag paper, handmade at the Blanchet Frères & Kléber paper mill in Rives, France on a traditional cylinder paper mould. The subtle pattern of the paper fibers is visible in oblique lighting, and lends a rich and elegant appearance to the whole map.
* NOTE: This is a carefully crafted print of the highest quality, but it is not the original work.
