1912 Island of Kauai (Hawaii) Topographic Map
1912 Island of Kauai (Hawaii) Topographic Map
This handsome and richly-detailed 44" x 56" map of the island of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands will be the centerpiece of any wall. Featuring detailed topographic contours which depict the island's steep mountainous terrain and many rivers and ravines, the map includes extensive details on various Kauai landforms, villages, marshes, lakes and reservoirs, roads, caves, and so forth. The level of detail is such that even individual buildings outside the major villages are shown as tiny black squares. This map harkens from a time long before Hawaiian statehood, when Hawaii was a territory of the United States, and around the time that Hawaiian music and culture began to explode in popular culture on the mainland.
The map is printed on Arches BFK Rives 100% Cotton Rag paper, handmade at the Blanchet Frères & Kléber paper mill in Rives, France on a traditional cylinder paper mould. The subtle pattern of the paper fibers is visible in oblique lighting, and lends a rich and elegant appearance to the whole map.
* NOTE: This is a carefully crafted print of the highest quality, but it is not the original work.
