William Clark's 1810 Map from the Lewis & Clark Expedition - 1804-1806
William Clark's 1810 Map from the Lewis & Clark Expedition - 1804-1806
This astonishingly-detailed 43" x 24" map by William Clark, drawn in 1810, reflects the sum of the collected geographic information collected during the Corps of Discovery's famous expedition across the North American Continent in 1804-1806.
Clark's map, virtually bursting with detail, can be hard to read in part due to Clark's delicate cursive pen, and in part due to the difficulty in scanning the original. But look close, and you'll find an unrivaled picture of the western interior of North America before westward expansion of white settlement.
The map is printed on Arches BFK Rives 100% Cotton Rag paper, handmade at the Blanchet Frères & Kléber paper mill in Rives, France on a traditional cylinder paper mould. The subtle pattern of the paper fibers is faintly visible, and lends a rich textured appearance under oblique lighting. The detail in this map can be very hard to make out, though the overall effect is superb.
* NOTE: This is a carefully crafted print of the highest quality, but it is not the original work.
